According to TMZ, hundreds of thousands of people worldwide have had their heart strings tugged on following the radar disappearance and subsequent implosion of the Titantic-bound submersible. The OceanGate submarine carried five people to the bottom of the ocean to explore the wreckage of the RMS Titanic in 1912, which resulted in the deaths of 1,500 people.
The sub set out for the shipwreck early Sunday morning (June 18), but shortly after taking off, the sub lost all communications, prompting a multinational and days-long search and rescue effort.
Sadly, the latest submarine exploration ultimately resulted in the deaths of its five members aboard. The names of the five OceanGate passengers are: Hamish Harding, 58, Shahzada Dawood, 48, Suleman Dawood, 19, Stockton Rush, 61, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, 77.
Just like when tragedy struck in the 1997 Oscar-winning movie, the same sentiments were felt whe news was confirmed about the five people aboard the OceanGate sub passing away. Celine Dion’s theme song in the movie, “My Heart Will Go On,” is now helping folks in their grieving process.
It is said that in the wake of the submersible tragedy, Dion’s song has seen over 500,000 new streams since the five souls passed on. As for a breakdown, it is reported that over on Spotify, listeners have played Dion’s song 522,864 times since Thursday (June 22), and that on Friday, the new streams continued to soar.
